ESA and Pokémon Company Launch Collaboration for World Space Week 2026
The European Space Agency (ESA) and The Pokémon Company International have unveiled an official partnership to coincide with World Space Week 2026, which runs from 4 to 10 October. The initiative aims to raise global awareness of space exploration and its benefits.
As part of the collaboration, a Europe‑wide exhibition will be created, traveling to multiple cities across the continent. The exhibit will cover topics such as Earth observation, human spaceflight, and everyday satellite applications, using interactive displays and multimedia installations to engage a broad audience.
A special feature called the Astronaut‑Pikachu Experience will allow visitors to try space‑related activities alongside a Pikachu figure dressed in an astronaut suit. This includes simulators that mimic microgravity and hands‑on stations that playfully explain basic principles of space technology.
Both organisations stress that the project is designed to inspire young people toward science and technology careers. By combining space knowledge with the popular Pokémon brand, they hope to lower barriers to complex subjects. The event forms part of the annual World Space Week, endorsed by the United Nations.
