Launch scrub for SDA constellation mission
SpaceX cancelled the launch attempt for 21 data transport satellites destined for the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture. The flight, designated Tranche 1 Transporter Layer A, marks the fourth mission supporting this architecture.
The satellites are intended to create a low‑Earth‑orbit relay layer that enables fast, secure data transfer for military users. No specific reason for the scrub was disclosed by either SpaceX or the SDA.
Despite the setback, officials indicated that the launch window remains tight. A subsequent attempt could be made as soon as Thursday, provided all technical and range‑clearance issues are resolved.
The SDA’s proliferated architecture aims to field a resilient mesh of small satellites that delivers continuous, low‑latency connectivity to warfighters. Each successful launch brings the constellation closer to initial operational capability.
