Observations with the James Webb Space Telescope
An international team led by the University of Maryland used the Near-Infrared Spectrograph (NIRSpec) aboard JWST to study the atmosphere of the gas giant HATS-6 b, located about 500 light-years from Earth. During transit, the spectrograph captured clear absorption features of water vapor, methane and ammonia, marking one of the most definitive detections of ammonia in an exoplanet atmosphere to date.
